Anthropic says Claude wrote most of a Rust rewrite of its Messages API, cutting CPU use by about 40 to 50%

Head of platform engineering Katelyn Lesse said a team with no Rust developers moved the API from Python using Claude, with engineers owning architecture and shadow-traffic verification; time-to-first-token improved about 10 to 20%, figures she gave in interviews rather than a published benchmark.
