Why it matters

Meta is betting that a talking, gesturing avatar will make its consumer agent feel more sticky than text-only assistants, and is shipping the feature ahead of a Tamagotchi-like Muse Charm wearable planned before year-end. The rollout is US-first on the Muse app across mobile, web and Mac, with AI Glasses support listed as next. Competitors already offer voice; Meta’s differentiator is the animated “Jolly” avatar and hundreds of voice styles. Watch Charm hardware timing, whether users keep video mode on, and any safety incidents from anthropomorphised agents.
