Why it matters

Fuji Television set up an AI Center in July and began running an AI Sandbox with its drama and technology teams and AI firm ANDENT in September. The broadcaster makes 16 serial dramas a year for prime time and says it mixes generative AI with live filming, VFX and CG rather than replacing them. From the October season, at least one drama each quarter is designated for heavier AI use. Watch how far savings extend beyond single production steps and how staff and unions respond.
