Why it matters

Neoclouds such as Nebius, IREN and CoreWeave rent GPU capacity to large buyers, and Microsoft has been among their biggest customers, so any sign it is tightening oversight matters for how the AI build-out is financed. The report landed on the same day Nasdaq fell 5.52% on fears of data-centre curbs, which makes it a test of whether hyperscaler demand is cooling or being re-routed to Microsoft's own sites. The claim rests on one press report citing unnamed sources. Watch for a Microsoft statement, delivery dates at the affected sites and whether other hyperscalers follow.
