Perplexity launches Teammates, persistent AI agents that take on ongoing work for Max users

The agents work from high-level goals using existing Projects, Memory, Skills and connectors, can sit in Slack channels, and roll out on the web first; native apps are promised later and per-task costs were not detailed.
Why it matters
Teammates moves Perplexity from session-based agents like its February Computer launch to agents that persist, watch tools such as Slack and act when something changes. That puts it in the same lane as other labs' long-running workplace agents, and it reuses context users have already built inside Perplexity. Watch how pricing works for always-on agents, what review controls look like in practice and when native apps arrive.
