China Mobile plans more than 100 billion yuan of compute investment in 2027 and says AI computing will double each year
At the 2026 Mobile Network Conference chairman Chen Zhongyue said 2027 procurement will exceed 500 billion yuan, as reported live by IT Home; the company has not posted a full release.
Why it matters
China Mobile is one of the world's largest telecom buyers, so its procurement plan is a demand signal for servers, networking and power. Chen Zhongyue said compute is the biggest increment in this year's investment, that three gigawatt-class computing campuses started construction this year and two more follow next year, and that intelligent computing capacity will double in each of the next two years. The figures were reported live from the conference by IT Home, so watch for the company's own release and for which suppliers, domestic or foreign, win the orders.
