Samsung SDI to supply 70-cell battery packs for Hyundai's Atlas humanoid, TheElec reports

Industry sources say each Atlas uses 70 cylindrical 2170 cells of 5,000mAh, about 1.3kWh; LG Energy Solution is also a supplier, and mass production is set for 2028 or later.
Why it matters
The battery specification fills in one of the last parts of Hyundai's Atlas supply chain, after Electronic Times reported in October that Hyundai Mobis will build the actuators and Samsung SDI and LG Energy Solution the batteries. TheElec says the 1.3kWh pack is about 1.6% of an Ioniq 5 Long Range battery, which it calls enough for the two to four hours a typical humanoid runs. Spot 2 will be tested first on the same cells. Watch whether Hyundai confirms the specification and keeps the 2028 timeline.
