Saab unveils in-house AI air-combat agents it has flown on the Gripen E fighter

Saab says its agents, trained over millions of simulated flight hours in its AI Fighter Pilot Academy, have validated beyond-visual-range air combat in real flight; when they enter service depends on Sweden's customers.
Why it matters
Saab is the first fighter maker to say it has built, trained and flown its own AI agents end to end, rather than hosting a partner's software such as Helsing's Centaur, which flew on a Gripen E in May last year. Saab says safety and control were built into development from the start. Its head of advanced programs told Aviation International News the agents are ready for operational deployment and that absorbing them could take months or a few years.
