SemiAnalysis says SpaceX has 3.6GW of AI data centres under construction and is aiming for about 13GW in 2027

The research firm raised its estimate after identifying more than 9GW of possible capacity; SpaceX has not published these figures itself, and Elon Musk reposted the report.

Why it matters

Two months ago SemiAnalysis argued that a SpaceX target of 10GW in 2027 was achievable and drew pushback; it now says 3.6GW is already under construction across existing and new sites. It compares the roughly 13GW goal to building all of Google's data-centre capacity from 1999 to 2026 in about a year and a half. The figures are the firm's estimates from tracking sites and power, not company disclosures. Watch for confirmation from SpaceX and for how the new sites will be powered.

Key facts

  • 3.6GW under construction, per SemiAnalysis
  • Estimate raised to about 13GW for 2027
  • More than 9GW of possible capacity identified
  • Compared to Google's 1999–2026 capacity built in about 1.5 years
  • SpaceX has not published the figures
