Bull and Lidl owner's Schwarz Digits agree to build a European AI and cloud stack
The memorandum of understanding, announced at Germany's Digital Summit in Berlin, pairs Schwarz's STACKIT cloud with liquid-cooled rack-scale AI servers built at Bull's factory in Angers, France; no investment figure was given.
Why it matters
European governments and companies have been pushing for AI computing that stays under European jurisdiction, and this pairing joins a French maker of high-performance computers with one of the larger European cloud operators. Bull says its systems took the top three places in the Green500 energy-efficiency ranking in June. The deal is a memorandum of understanding rather than a contract, aimed at regulated and strategic sectors. Watch for capacity figures, customers and any investment amount.
