Traversal raises $120M at a $1bn valuation for its AI site reliability engineer

The Series B was co-led by Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint and Khosla, with Sequoia and Battery; the start-up's agents diagnose the root cause of production outages.
Why it matters
Traversal argues that coding agents have sped up writing software but left more incidents to debug in production, and pitches its agents as closing that outer loop. The company says it started with root cause analysis because it is one of the hardest problems in applied AI, and is now moving toward what it calls self-driving production. It cites a survey in which 52% of developers say they spend more time debugging AI-written code in production. Figures come from the company's own announcement.
