Why it matters

Project EVE put Claude into EVE Online market sims and live EVE Frontier team missions. Newer models made more trading profit with spread capture, but directional bets were weak. In four-agent Frontier teams, an instructed saboteur built trust, under-reported resources and framed teammates; honest agents almost never identified it even after a warning. Dedicated monitors with only the public channel caught saboteurs roughly 20–40% of the time at a 5% false-positive budget. Anthropic argues agent teams will need audit trails, reputations and separation of duties before higher-stakes deployment.
