Huawei Cloud retires its openPangu-2.0 model services and points users to DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and GLM-5.3
Sales stop on November 6 and both hosted models go offline on November 30; Huawei says a new openPangu generation is planned but gives no names or dates.
Why it matters
openPangu-2.0-Flash, with 92 billion parameters, was open-sourced at the end of June, and the 505-billion-parameter sparse openPangu-2.0-Pro, trained on Ascend NPUs, followed in late July. The notice covers only the hosted MaaS services in the Guiyang region, not the open-source releases. The same bulletin schedules GLM-5.1 for retirement on November 16, a sign of how fast models turn over on Chinese cloud platforms. Watch for the next openPangu release and whether the open weights keep being maintained.
