Vork launches a headless 3D/VFX engine built for AI agents to write scenes as code

Voyager / vork

GitHub v0.1.0 research preview (14:37Z): Rust/Slang engine with ~2,500-token core API; agents render, inspect and revise; source-available and free during preview.

Why it matters

Most 3D stacks still force agents through GUIs built for humans. Vork flips that: the kernel keeps geometry and ray queries, and agents write materials, cameras, physics and compositing as programs. Demos include a million-bird flock in 97 seconds on one GPU and black-hole light bending written as a shader hook. It is a research preview with limits (no fog/volumes yet). Watch whether agent labs adopt it the way they adopted headless browsers for web work.

Key facts

  • GitHub release v0.1.0 at 14:37Z Nov 6
  • Rust + Slang; Vulkan/Metal GPU path
  • Core API ~2,500 tokens
  • Million-bird demo: 97s on one GPU (claimed)
  • Source-available, free in research preview
