Musk reportedly open to TSMC building and running Terafab, reversing his October pledge

Digitimes, citing supply-chain sources, says new talks are being prepared in which TSMC would take primary responsibility for building and operating the Texas fab; neither Musk nor TSMC has confirmed.
Why it matters
Terafab is meant to secure chips for Tesla's driving systems, Optimus robots and Musk's other companies, using Intel's 14A process with volume production targeted for the third or fourth quarter of 2028. On 7 October Musk wrote that his companies would build and run the fab themselves. Handing operations to TSMC would trade control for experience on a schedule Musk has called insanely fast. Watch for comment from Musk, TSMC or Intel, whose role in the project would change.
