Why it matters

Detection has lagged generation: the authors of DF26, an academic benchmark of 2,691 clips of people speaking to camera published in September, found that both people and leading detectors did little better than chance. Pangram, known for spotting AI-written text, says Flash 1.0 is 29 points ahead of the next detector on DF26, and Image 1.0 can draw a heatmap of where AI content sits in a picture. Its 99.96% result on copies of 100 real photos comes from a test Pangram designed itself. Watch for independent evaluations.
