Global chip sales hit $517.7bn in Q3 2026, up 24.1% on the quarter, SIA says
September sales of $172.6bn were up 146.8% on a year earlier, with the Americas up 191.7%, as AI data-centre demand keeps lifting the whole industry.
Why it matters
The Semiconductor Industry Association publishes monthly global chip sales compiled by World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, as three-month moving averages. Its third-quarter release shows the AI build-out still accelerating rather than levelling off: quarterly sales have grown more than 20% for three quarters in a row, and September's total was well over double a year earlier. Every region grew year on year, led by the Americas, where most hyperscale AI data centres are being built. Strong numbers from AMD and Supermicro this week point the same way.
